Alexander focuses on advising and representing clients in corporate, commercial, finance, construction, energy, mineral resources and infrastructure disputes.

His experience includes working on claims under the rules of international and domestic arbitration institutions, as well as litigation in Russian and foreign courts.

Alexander also has experience of advising the largest Russian banks and VEB.RF in connection with project financing.

In 2021 - 2022 Alexander worked in the Moscow office of the international law firm Baker Botts and in 2020 - 2021 - in the law firm Kuznetsov, Marisin and Partners.

Dispute resolution

consulting and representing:

  • one of the leading Russian companies in international commercial arbitration (LCIA) in a multi-billion USD dispute in connection with the financing of a major infrastructure project;

  • a large metallurgical holding in arbitration under the ICAC Rules and in the Russian commercial courts in a dispute relating to the refusal of a foreign supplier to supply products to Russia;

  • a large industrial and investment holding in relation to a corporate dispute against another shareholder;

  • a Russian telecommunications company in the Russian courts in a dispute over representations and indemnities arising from an M&A transaction for the acquisition a network of data centers; 

  • the employer in connection with the termination of a complex construction contract worth over 50 billion roubles and claims invoking bank guarantees;

  • a large industrial group in connection with possible litigation and arbitration proceedings in Sweden, Austria, Germany, China and Turkey with a number of foreign counterparties in relation to refusal to perform obligations in connection with sanctions;

  • a Russian-Chinese joint venture as employer in connection with the termination of a number of contracts, including an EPSS contract, with a consortium of Russian and foreign contractors;

  • a major Russian energy company in an SCC arbitration seated in Stockholm in a dispute regarding a joint venture in Western Siberia;

  • a major mining company in parallel arbitration proceedings under the LCIA Rules and ICAC Rules as well as before Russian commercial courts in a joint venture dispute;

  • an international organisation in arbitration proceedings under the UNCITRAL Rules as well as in the Russian commercial courts in a joint-venture dispute;

  • a Russian manufacturing company in the Russian commercial courts it is defence of claims brought by a public authority for alleged violation of subsidy conditions;

  • a Russian company seeking damages and interim measures in Russia and other jurisdictions in a dispute arising out of a joint venture agreement;

Banking and finance

advising and representing:

  • VEB RF and a Russian state-owned bank in relation to project, equity and bridge financing under Russian law for the construction of a copper-nickel ore mining and processing complex in the Krasnoyarsk Region with a processing capacity of 7 million tons of ore per year;

  • VEB RF and Gazprombank on syndicated project financing of producers of nitric acid and ammonium nitrate solution;

  • VEB RF and Gazprombank on syndicated project financing of producers of sulfuric acid and oleum.
